OTHER EVENTS:

“Presidential  Acclaim “:  An Epoch making event  was engraved in the annals of the history of DPS when Her Excellency, President of India Pratibha Devisingh Patil,  acclaimed the students of DPS Raipur at Raj Bhavan. Fully appreciating the holistic background of the institution in the field of Academics, Cocurricular activities, Philanthropy and Internationalism, the President awarded a glowing recognition and commendation. The students who had the exclusive privilege of meeting the President were the cream of the crop who have been proving their mettle in their chosen fields.

Visit by US Dignitaries:  On the 11th of July the school was privileged to be graced by the presence of -Educationists, Owen Lynch and Lidya Bucar, from the United Kingdom for a tete-e-tete with the teachers to discuss the latest reforms & developments in the educational system. Owen has the credentials of being CEO of Becta, operating as senior consultant in the educational policy to government departments, agencies and international private companies and recently, has had the privilege to revisit and review education strategies in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Singapore England and the USA. They interacted with the teachers on the global practices in   Education. They also enlightened the teachers on integrated development.

World Population Day:  A Special Assembly was organised on the 11th of July to celebrate the World Population Day.. The assembly focussed on the evils of population Explosion. A Skit presented by the students of class VIII was the highlight of the programme. Kudos to the teachers and students of class VIII for organising the programme in such a commendable manner.

Independence Day:  A special Assembly was organised on the 12th of August to remember the martyrs who played a prominent role in the freedom struggle.. The special assembly conducted by class IX evoked patriotic feelings and it had skits and songs in its cultural bonanza.  The celebrations extended till the 15th of August   when the Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour.  Congratulations to  the combined effort of teachers and students of class IX  to have put up a wonderful show!

Teacher’s Day: Teachers Day was celebrated with gusto and gaiety on the 5th of September 2011. The day began with warm wishes of reverence by students. This was followed by an assembly conducted by teachers. The enlightening function initiated with the invocation to the creator followed by a confluence of cultural display by teachers and students which reverberated the ambience of camaraderie and bonhomie. The children enjoyed the musical and dance performances by their teachers and this was followed by the enchanting performances by the students.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raghunath Mukherjee, Principal expounded the significance of the day and its relevance in eternity.

Teachers made a foray into charity replicating generosity and charity, the oeuvre of kindness ensemble the donor and its benefactor. The venture encapsulated the gift of selfless service an exulting event of its own. Many teachers volunteered to donate blood to wipe the tears of those million who are in dire need of blood and can not afford to delay. It was phenomenal to watch teachers bleed for those who are bleeding. Blood cells like love multiply the more we give. Hence, it was exemplary of the teachers to choose this auspicious day to demonstrate benevolence and magnanimity. The highlight of the day was a noble blood donation camp by the teachers of the institution.   Congrats to the teachers and students of class XII for this memorable performance.

ALL the way  for  global learning : DPS Raipur feels privileged having solidly secured its partnership with Ellesmere College, Shropshire, U.K. and as agreed mutually, the orientation & enrichment manifesto of its students are in full swing. .Ishwaraj Singh Bhatia, of class X was selected to represent the School in playing cricket for Ellesmere College during the summer term, 2011 and to attend the academic classes of A levels of GCSE. Ishwaraj appealed as the grand ambassador of DPS, Raipur owing to his prolific, tenacious patience at all times. He can be relied upon to induce and cement friendly relationship, be open to criticism, innovative ideas and display zeal to improve his own yardsticks. Instead of sulking in the back seat with computers, I-pods, monolithic television sets & techno-gadgets, he chose to explore a land & culture unknown to him beyond the boundaries of his nation, religion, language & culture .To explore the intricacies of this phenomenal game called cricket,, Ishwaraj Singh Bhatia was sent to enroll himself in Ellesmere College, U.K. and as anticipated, he has returned after a short stint only to return to U.K. to join the cricket tour to Barbados (West Indies) as strongly recommended by his Coach, Mr. Colin Cawcutt who has also expressed his pleasure on having to coach such a promising student as Ishwaraj. Mr. Colin feels that Ishwaraj will surely improvise his skills to perfection in the period of two years that he has to spend playing cricket almost incessantly.

THE PROUD CABINET:

The months of July and august witnessed a flurry of activities as the  students   filed their nominations for the various posts and prepared themselves to go through two to three rounds of interview. They laid out their vision for the school and the following are those coveted few who have been successful. They would be initiated to their office in a ceremony that would be conducted shortly.
