Achievements

Abeer Lall of Class X has proved his mettle and grit
by bagging the runners up trophy in the Mir Iqbal Hussain
Trophy organised by Coca-Cola for the East Zone
from 27th December 2010 to 1st Jan 2011.The East Zone
comprised of teams from West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar and
Chhattisgarh. The Chhattisgarh team reached the finals of
the tournament and lost to Bihar by 2-1. In the engrossing
match, Abeer Lall, the centre forward has earned wide
acclaim and plaudits in profusion.

Shibani Sengupta and her team of class VIII has once
again proved their distinction in the field of Science and
Technology in the 18th National Children’s Science
Congress held from 27-31st December, 2010 in VELS
University, Chennai. The topic of research presentation
was: “Land Resources: Use for prosperity, Save for posterity”.
The lofty and innovative notions paved the path for astounding
success. The project excellently reflected its relevance to
the focal theme and fulfilled the objectives of National
Children’s Science Congress. The young talents of DPS Raipur
have added another feather in the over brimming cap of
Credible Chhattisgarh.
Another milestone is reached when Ms.Rashi Lalit Shri
Shri Mal, Ms. Shriya Chandrakar & Ma.Sambhav Kothari of
Class X got selection for the prestigious
Singapore
National
University Computing camp to be held from Dec 13 to
Dec 17,
2010.
at NUS Campus Singapore.These students entered into the
priority list of SOF & NUS through their excellent &
exemplary performance in academics as well as their
outstanding achievements in the Olympiads. It is a
prestigious matter that DPS Raipur is the only school all
over central zone from where three students are selected for
the illustrious camp. It adds another feather to the
brimming cap of DPS Raipur.

Yash
Rajpal Of
Class X took part in the State level Jhankaar Competition
held by Disha College and he competed with around 157
participants and emerged first in the Solo Dance Rock Category
on the 27th and 28th of November 2010 He
was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 5000 apart from a certificate.

In the 4th
Jitendra Jain Memorial Debate Competition held at Kanger
Valley Academy on the 20th of November, on the
topic, “ I affirm we are civilized” our duo of Piyushi
Sao( of class XIth) and Ayushman Shrivastav(of
class XII) battled out their opinions with 18 other teams
from Bhopal, Nagpur, Bhilai, Durg , Raipur etc. Piyushi`s
opinions against the motion was well received and Ayushman
vehemently argued for the motion. Piyushi Sao bagged the
second position and was awarded a cash prize of 3000 Rs
apart from a trophy. The school fondly appreciates the
efforts of a veteran in this field Ms. Yashoda Mukherjee for
her contribution in training up the children and being with
them during the competition.
DPS students have secured 6 Medals in swimming
Competition conducted by Chhattisgarh Govt.at Union Club,
Raipur in the “Chhatisgarh Khel Mahotsav” on 18th
Nov, 2010 Ayushi Shukla of class IX won 2 Gold Medals
and a cash prize Rs.2200/-, Saundarya Khatri of class
VII won 1 silver , 1 bronze Medals and Cash prize of Rs.800/-
and Shruti Manik of class V won 1 silver, 1 bronze
medals and a cash prize of Rs.800/-.

Dhananjay
Panwar,
student of class IV, D.P.S. Raipur has won the National
Child Award for Exceptional Achievement for the Year 2010
for excellence in the field of “Paintings”. The prestigious
award was presented by the Hon’ble President of India
at a function in Rashtrapati Bhawan,
New Delhi
on 14th November, 2010. It carries a cash prize of Rs.10,000/- a silver medal and a citation
certificate. The epochal achievement will be ever etched in
the annals of DPS Raipur.

In the
State level Open Group Dance competition organized by
Dance Dynamics, Raipur the students bagged the second position
after competing with 32 groups during the audition round on 13th
of October 2010, till the finals on 25th of October
’10.
We
congratulate Ms. Nehal Mandhan, Ashwathi Verma, Disha Thakur,
Shruthi Dahlan, Ruchika Jain (all from std VIth) and Mr.
Vaibhav Raj, Abhinav Jain, Ritik Agrawal, Dishant Jain, Naman
Agrawal and Mangalam (all from Std VII) for winning us this
honour.

The first
National Science Congress was convened at DPS,
VIjayawada on the 12th and 13th of
November and our team of Rashi ShriShrimal, Shilpa Bhawnani,
Gurkirat Arora, Twinkle Nathani , Swarnalatha Guru, D.Gautam,
Shweta Mittal, Naina Chhablani ( from class 9th and
10th ) embarked on their journey to win the
competition from the start. They took part in Exhibition(2nd),
Paper presentation(2nd), Project (1st), Poster
Competition , and art and Clay Modelling 2nd) . The school
heartily appreciates the efforts of Ms. Sowmya and Ms. Anita
Verma for their support throughout.

Music
Department’s obsession to remain at the top is becoming
legendary. In the National Inter DPS Semi Classical Group
Vocal Music Competition held at DPS Greater Noida on 12th
November 2010, seventeen schools from across the country
participated with gusto and gaiety. Amidst stiff and dauntless
competition, DPS Raipur emerged victorious by scooping
the First Position. The audience enjoyed the blend of
rhythm, harmony and synchronization in the melodious rendition
of young talents. Mrinalini Kalla (IX), Amruta Shingwekar
(IX), Shriya Chandrakar (X), Swati Bhatt (X), Reshita Minocha
(X), Udeesha Tiwari (XI), Pooja Jha (XI) and Anusha Guha (XII)
crooned their symphony to the delight of the judges and the
audience. Evidently it has cast an enthralling spell on them.
Shri Ashoka Chandra, Chairman, DPS Society,
Padmashri Prof. Ritu Ganguly, Mrs. Renu Chaturvedi,
Principal, DPS Greater Noida gave away the prizes.

In the
Inter School Art Competition held at Jain Public School
Deopuri, on the 12th of October 2010 the students
received the following awards under the guidance of art
teacher Ms. Manisha Gautam. Priyamwada Paul (IX) for Best out
of waste and Ritika Parekh(IX) for Mehndi Competition.
In the
Rota fest
Competition( a state level arts and literary competition)
organized by Rotary club of Raipur greater on the 2nd
and 3rd of October 2010, our students created
history once again by winning in various competitions. We
stood first in the band Competition, First in the solo Song
Competition (Junior group), second in the Senior Group and
First in the Group Dance Competition under the guidance of
Mr. Gautam Biswas and Mr. Lucky Mohanty. The students who
showcased their skills during the event are: R.Robin, Nishit
Bojwani,Vaibhav RAj, Parasray Khare, Swati Bhatt, Devyani
Agrawal, Anusha Guha, Surbhi Jain, Shreya Amnik, Shriya
Chandrakar &Vaishali Chaturvedi.
Anusha
Deshkar of Std XII-D
took part in sketch competition titled “Know your Bapu” at
Magneto Mall on
the 2nd
of October 2010. She bagged the third position.
Under the
tutelage of Mr. Trilochan Sona, our team of artists stood
third in the Dramatics Competition titled “ Snappy
Snippets” at DPS, Vijayawada, (Andhra Pradesh)on
the 29th and 30th of September 2010 The
students who brought home the trophy are: Aarti
Varllyani,hsriya Tiwari,Pratyush Sharma, Parth Dubey, Rishabh
Kashyap, Guneeta Kaur.
District level National children science congress under the
aegis of Science and Technology department, Govt of
India
was conducted in Mayaramsurjan Govt. girls higher secondary
school, Choubey colony, Raipur. There were 15 projects under
the Theme: Land Resources: Use for prosperity, Save for
posterity. DPS, Raipur won the district level title in the
junior category with efforts of Shibani SenGupta,
Sakshi Binjhal, Varun Diwan, Prajnay Patra
and Vrinda Agrawal. The State level NCSC will be held
in Bilaspur.

Parth
Dixit
of Class VII stunned all by his spectacular performance in
the All India Talent Series of Lawn Tennis Tournament
held from 20th Sept’2010 to 24th Sept’2010. Brisk foot
movements, lightning speed and eyes trained firmly on the
ball-have earned superlatives on his play. He was awarded
the BEST PLAYER & Runner up trophy by the Haryana Hurricane,
Kapil Dev who was the chief Guest on the closing
ceremony.

The CBSE
Result of Class X has added another feather to its brimming
cap with astounding results. Thirty six students have scored
9 and above point scale (CCE) with the highest being 10
scored by Stuti Tiwari. Thirty eight students
have scored 8 and above point scale (CCE). DPS Raipur has
measured up to its endeavour in laying the foundation of
excellence by this brilliant performance.

Yet another scintillating
victory charts its way into the roll of honours when Aayushman Shrivastava of Class XII made an epochal
triumph when he was adjudged as the ‘Best Brain’ of
Chhattisgarh in a Quiz Contest held on 12th
September at Magneto Mall under the auspices of Travel and
Tourism department, Chhattisgarh, NIIT Raipur and Pro-C
Education, Raipur. He has contested against 200
competitiors comprising of school and college students from
across the state to win the coveted award that carries a
laptop, a trophy, cash prize of Rs. 501/-and 3days and 2
nights stay in a Chhattisgarh tourism hotel. A rare feat
achieved with erudition and élan!

DPS Raipur has set a paradigm of itself yet again by
sweeping away the significant positions in the Inter School
Chhattisgarh State Swimming Competition organized by
C.G.Government at Sanjay Taran Pushkar Bilaspur from 9th
Sept to 12 Sept’2010. The school has been awarded with 6
Gold, 10 Silver & 2
Bronze medals in the gripping competition. The road to glory
was trodden
with unstinted effort and enthusiasm. Ayushi Shukla (IX) has to her credit 4 Gold Medals &
Arihant Jain (VII) has won 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze
Medal. Parth Kotak (IX) has bagged 5 Silver Medals
and Saundrya Khatri (VII) has won 1 Silver and 1
Bronze Medal. Shruti Manik (V) has won 3 Silver
Medals. The annals of DPS Raipur have been glorified for
posterity. We salute the assiduous display of talent and
caliber.

Abeer Lal, an ace & promising football player of
class X has been adjudged as the Player of the Tournament
in the State Level Sub-Junior Football Tournament 2010. He
has been nominated as the best player of Chhattisgarh.

It is a privilege to salute the trailblazers who have
gone beyond the horizon with their innovative brilliance and
sheer determination to create new avenues in their chosen
fields. To such genre belong, Trisha Kanji and
Rashi Shrishrimal of Class X who have successfully
scooped the First Position at the National Level
Technothlon 2010 (Annual Techno-Management festival)
held at IIT Guwahati from 2nd to 5th September. The
model ‘Smart Home’ envisaged the essence of sagacious vision
of energy conservation. This milestone is yet another
testament to our determination to remain at the zenith.

Akanksha Maheshwari of Class XII
epitomized success by bagging the First position
through her striking and eloquent oratorical skills in the Eco
Speak Competition held at Bhilai Institute of Technology, Durg
on 20th August 2010.
 
Amol Karkare
has notched the First Rank and Siddharth Pratap
Singh has bagged the Third Rank in the
Inter
School State level Badminton Competition held at Ambikapur,
Chattisgarh.in the Under-14 Boys team held from 26th
August, 2010 to 30th August, 2010. They have been
selected for the National level Badminton championship
to be held at Chandigarh in the month of October. The young
aspirants were trained by the ace Badminton Coach Shakti Shri
Mishra. Kudos to the young crop of talents essentially worthy
of emulation!

DPS Raipur dance team positioned at the
pinnacle in the inter school dance competition held at Sahid
Smarak Bhawan on 28th August, 2010 under the aegis
of Rhythm N Grace Students from the junior category
participated in the classical odyssey Group dance and bagged
the coveted 1st Position. There was a tough and
stiff competition amidst twelve schools where DPS Raipur won
accolades profusely. Kinjal Parate of class 5th
secured 1st position in contemporary. Yash Rajpal
of class 10th secured second position in the
contemporary dance. Judges gave a standing ovation at their
mesmerizing and enchanting performance. Prizes were given to
children amidst wide cheer and acclaim.

were accorded the rare privilege of attending the Academic
camp (17th May-22nd May) organized by DPS Society at DPS Dwarka for their scintillating performance in the DPS Maths &
Science Talent Search examination

Ms.
Sowmya Raghubir, (PGT Biology)
participated in a Group Study Exchange Programme organized by
Rotary International at Sao Paolo, Rio-De-Jeeneeiro(Brazil) in
the month of April 2010.
Under the aegis of the
Social Service club
'Prayas', students collected old cloths and donated the same
to C.G. government for the orphan children of the martyrs.
Eight
Students received
the covetous Scholarship award of Rs. 2,500, for
securing the highest marks in Sanskrit.

D.Gautam
won the First prize in the “On the Spot
Painting Competition” held at DPS Bangalore.

Varun
Diwan (VIII), Abhinava .G (VII), Pallavi Parashar (VI) and
Sandali Khare (V)
won the First prize at the Bournvita Confident India
Inter-school quiz competition.
In
the Inter School Limca Book of records Quiz held at Holy
Cross Senior Secondary School, Kapa Raipur, Ayushman
Dubey (9)and Aditya vandhye of class 11th stood
fourth .

The
Music team has achieved First Position and brought
pristine glory to the institution in the Patriotic Group Song
Competition (Zara Yaad Karo Qurbani) held at Lions Club,
Raipur on 15th August 2010. It is noteworthy to mention that
our Music team is winning this prestigious position
consecutively for the last three years. A hat trick
achievement indeed!

Our
school bagged the second position in the overall performance
(Group Song-1st Position & Solo Song- 3rd Position) in the
Inter DPS Semi Classical Vocal Music competition held at
the zonal level at DPS Bhilai for South and Central Zone on
Friday, 13th August 2010. The school choir group under the
tutelage of Mr. Gautam Biswas, H.O.D (Music), has won
accolades and acclaim at the State and National level
competitions of repute. The music team includes Mrinalini
Kalla, Trisha Kanji, Swati Bhatt, Shreya Chandrakar, Reshita
Minocha, Udeesha Tiwari, Devyani Agrawal, Anusha Guha and they
will be participating in the Inter DPS Semi Classical Vocal
Music National Level competition in the month of October at
DPS Greater Noida (U.P). Kudos to the Music Department.

The
connoisseurs of art have adjudged Yashvi Vasundhara
Bhagwanani (VIII A) at the Third Position in the State
Level Poster Making competition organized on 12th August 2010
by Aamir International Group at Shaheed Smarak Bhawan, Raipur.

The
choir group under the tutelage of Mr. Gautam Biswas (H.O.D.Music)
won the first position in the Inter School Group Song
Competition organized by Jain Public School, Raipur. The
electronic media (Zee 24 & Sahara News) has accorded a rave
review of the achievement.

Trisha
Kanji of class X
has successfully completed “Sangeet Visharad” in
classical music (vocal) with Distinction in Theory and
Practical from “Indira Kala Sangeet Viswa Vidyalaya”,
Khairagarh. The school places on record the appreciation for
the child prodigy.

Swati Bhatt of class
X-A won the 1st prize in the self composed song category and
second prize in the already composed song category in the
Inter institutional Band Competition held at Bilaspur,
on the 22nd of August 2010 . She was
the lead singer of the group. There was a total of 24 bands
from the Central and Southern India.
