Internationalism
Internationalism
in DPS, Raipur
Statement of purpose
International mindedness is “caught, not taught” by
building an ethos that encourages certain habits of the mind and the
heart, and certain actions and practices based on principles. It
fosters values, inculcates attitudes, develops abilities and
encourages practices that underlie or facilitate the bridging of
social and cultural differences.
The international
venture at DPS Raipur seeks to go beyond the barriers of language,
nationality, caste, creed and religion. We hitherto cement
friendship without frontiers in a broader vista of understanding.
The school has
partnered with two schools: Hounsdown school, UK, and Ellesmere
school, U.K. The nature of this partnership includes cross-training,
visiting faculty, joint service projects, school visits, and
language development. Children benefited from this collaboration
through the means of meaningful exchanges, exposure, and cultural
study. Children appreciated cultures and could see the similarities
and differences with their own culture. This led to more tolerance,
empathy and peace. The genres of study deliberated the exposure to
larger spectrum of life. It was a meaningful and rewarding
experience collaborating for a significant association.
Internationalism
widens the mind set and outlook and brings with it added benefits,
opportunities and advantages so, inevitably, educational ideology
and theory begin to reflect the mind-set. The varied emanations are
reflected in the activities and events of the school which would
eventually mirror in the attitude & approach of the students. It
would be a great leap forward towards emerging a new world order-
utopia.
We fervently wish
that with the world shrinking into a global village,
internationalism would make it one world- one nation. May the glory
of solidarity and bonhomie foster effectually with the uninterrupted
union of countries. Endeavouring a new -fangled insight.

DPS RAIPUR GEARS
GLOBAL GAMUT

DPS, Raipur
feels privileged having solidly secured its partnership with
Ellesmere College, Shropshire, U.K. and as agreed mutually, the
orientation & enrichment manifesto of its students are in full
swing.
Ishwaraj Singh
Bhatia, of class X was selected to represent the School in playing
cricket for Ellesmere College during the summer term, 2011 and to
attend the academic classes of A levels of GCSE.
Ishwaraj
appealed as the grand ambassador of DPS, Raipur owing to his
prolific, tenacious & abysmall patience at all times. He can be
relied upon to induce and cement friendly relationship, be open to
criticism, innovative ideas and display zeal to improve his own
yardsticks. Where, students of today are influenced by the hypnotic
beckoning of the teeming swarms of exorbitant ‘techno-locusts’ and
hence are losing the touch of friendliness, Ishwaraj, perhaps is one
of those rare boys who care for the bonhomie power of friendly
nature. And so instead of sulking in the back seat with computers,
I-pods, monolithic television sets & techno-gadgets, he chose to
explore a land & culture unknown to him beyond the boundaries of his
nation, religion, language & culture.
After Soccer,
Cricket is followed like a religion in U.K. just as it is followed
in India probably because the Britishers invented and established
this game. Indians, on the other hand, have a long history of their
association with the British and hence their hunger for the game is
insatiable & understandable. So, to explore the intricacies of this
phenomenal game, Ishwaraj Singh Bhatia was sent to enroll himself in
Ellesmere College, U.K. and as anticipated, he has returned after a
short stint only to return to U.K. to join the cricket tour to
Barbados (West Indies) as strongly recommended by his Coach, Mr.
Colin Cawcutt who has also expressed his pleasure on having to coach
such a promising student as Ishwaraj. Mr. Colin feels that Ishwaraj
will surely improvise his skills to perfection in the period of two
years that he has to spend playing cricket almost incessantly.
Ishwaraj, too,
is in high spirits since he has reported from there and feels that
the season ahead will certainly help him realize his dreams as a
cricketer in the Indian squad. It will also enable him to equip his
School, DPSR in coaching aspiring students who desire to pursue
cricket as their hobby or vocation. For such noble thoughts & high
spirit, the managing committee, the Principal & the entire family of
DPS extend their warm wishes to the enterprising and promising
youngster, Ishwaraj and hope that he will bring laurels to his
School and Nation with his deft and valuable experience.
Ishwaraj has
been sponsored by the Ellesmere College with a substantial
scholarship to continue his studies at U.K. With a deep desire to
perform & reach the peak of the game; Ishwaraj also aims to qualify
for Universities like Cambridge & Oxford for his higher studies and
to play for them.
This success
of Ishwaraj & DPS Raipur has opened a new door of opportunities for
its students as this is going to take the shape of an annual
exchange programme between DPSR and Ellesmere College for their
teachers & students.
